- Simple Description: The goal of this project entitled” Radiosensitization of medulloblastoma
by altering the intracellular redox environment with microRNA 128a” is
to enhance radiosensitivity of medulloblastoma, a pediatric brain tumor, to low
dose radiation and thereby to reduce radiation-related morbidity. This can be
done by carefully integrating microRNAs into radiation signaling
pathway and thereby altering the redox status of cancer stem cells. This
in turn will enhance the radio sensitivity of cancer stem cells and
therefore patients can be treated with low dose radiation. Reducing the
dose of radiation to normal brain tissue will reduce the side effects of
radiation and therefore maintain adequate survival.
